Night Owl Review - 5 Stars! Top Pick!
What a wonderful first book in the Songs of the Mages series by Ms. Hart. I fell in love with Damien right away. His wonderful heart and soul came through the pages of the story and made me cheer and root for him the whole time.

My heart was breaking for Toria and the pain she had to overcome and deal with with. I saw her warrior spirit and strength in her even when she didn't. The author did a wonderful job of having showing us her strength that was sitting just below the surface. I loved how she had Toria work through her demons at her own pace despite the wishing from Damien that she would work through them faster.

The story is full of wonderful twist and turns and in the mix I meet and fall in love with Damien's two best friends Jason and Rafe. I so want to hear and read more about them in future stories. If you are looking for a book filled with action, romance, and amazing twists then I highly recommend Songs of the Mages 1.

Romance Studio Review - 5 Hearts!
As a fifteen year old girl Victoria Carlisle lost her parents and is brutally raped by her guardian. Trying to kill herself ,she comes to the attention of Damien Townsend, Earl of Sinclair, a descendent of the famous mage, Merlin. In a vision he sees Toria as part of his destiny. If only he can protect her from her evil guardian and from his own growing feelings for her. The Baron of Heath who attacked her is a man who won't take no for an answer. Damien is hard pressed to protect her when so many things and people call for his protection and help.

Jean Hart Stewart starts a new series about Mages that promises to be as fascinating and well crafted as the previous series about Druids. Her characters always show a depth of humanity and strength that gives us some powerful role models, both in the heroes and the heroines. Damien, Toria, Raphael, Jason, and Damien's sister Debora are no exception. No matter what the pain they go through they refuse to give in to baser desires and become like the villains in the tale. Sometimes they need a little help to be as good as they want to be but that doesn't make us think less of them.

Through it all Ms. Stewart weaves bits of history to help the times come alive for us. Her word power in building pictures of the characters and the places is exceptional. If someone is a villain it's easy to see the nasty look in their eye as she paints a vivid picture of them. The beauty of the castle, the lands around them as they travel, are easy to visualize. Ms Stewart continues to give me books that have a sense of rightness about them. A belief that the characters deserve the good that may come to them or the bad depending in the outcome they earn with their behavior. I can't wait for the next one in this series.

Love, Romances & More Review - 4 Hearts!

Damien, a mage is enjoying the nature and watching the ocean when suddenly a young girl shows up on the beach and to his horror, walks into the ocean. He immediately goes after her and rescues her. He brings her back to his home, Tregaron, where he and his sister take care of her. During her delirious ramblings they learn that she had been abused by her guardian. When she recovers, Damien realises that this girl will become very special to him, but Torie is afraid of men. He packs her off to a school, to keep her out of her guardian’s way until she is eighteen, then he brings her back to Tregaron. Unfortunately, Baron Heath has not given up on Torie and when he sees what a beautiful woman she has become, he is more determined to have her and will stop at nothing. Damien will need all his magic powers to protect the woman he loves and all the patience he can muster to help her to overcome her fear of men.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I read it in one sitting, hardly daring to put it down. Jean Hart Stewart writes not only an emotion filled romance, but packs her story with a good plot and a subplot that carries the reader along wondering what will happen next. I appreciate her straightforward writing voice and I liked the episodes with Damien’s sister and his best friend, which were just as exciting as the main plot. Baron Heath is a despicable person and I was anxiously awaiting his come-uppance. Damien is a hero to fall in love with. Handsome and brave, he has learned not to miss-use his magical powers. He could have easily enchanted Torie to his bed, but with patience he waits for her to come to him willingly. You can certainly sympathize with his pain and forgive Torie, because of the things she had to endure when she was so young. The actual romance was emotional, poignant and very sensual. I have only praise for this story and always look forward to Jean Hart Stewart’s releases.
